Game Art & Design and 3D Tools Courses in Ludhiana 2026 — A Growing Interest, A New Option

MITS Faculty 8 min read

Animation and game art have had almost no dedicated training presence in Ludhiana. MITS Academy's Model Town centre now offers both a 7-month Game Art & Design track and a 2-month 3D Tools Bootcamp.

Ludhiana has historically had almost no dedicated animation or game art training infrastructure — students interested in this field typically looked toward Amritsar, where MAAC and XL Institute have built a presence over many years, or further afield to Mohali and Chandigarh. MITS Academy's Model Town centre is changing that equation for the first time, with two distinct offerings: a full Game Art & Design program and a shorter 3D & VFX Tools Bootcamp.

## Two different commitments, two different goals

These are not the same course at different lengths — they serve different students.

Game Art & Design (7 months, ₹45,000–₹62,000) is the deep, career-track program: character and environment design, 3D modeling, texturing, lighting, and portfolio-building aimed at landing a job as a game artist, 3D artist, or junior animator.

3D & VFX Tools Bootcamp (2 months, ₹22,000–₹32,000) is a faster, tool-focused introduction — ideal for someone who wants to learn the software (3D modeling and VFX compositing basics) without committing to a 7-month career-change program, or as a feeder into the longer Game Art & Design track.

## Why this matters specifically for Ludhiana

Unlike Amritsar, where an established animation/VFX competitor ecosystem already exists, Ludhiana students interested in this field have had to either relocate, go fully online with unverified instructors, or give up on the idea. A proper in-person centre with real faculty and structured curriculum closes that gap directly — and PAU and GNDEC both have active student communities interested in design and visual media as extracurricular pursuits, a natural recruiting ground.

## What the Game Art & Design curriculum covers

- 2D and 3D fundamentals — anatomy, perspective, color theory applied to character and environment art - Industry-standard 3D software for modeling, texturing, and rendering - Game-specific asset creation — props, characters, and environments built to game-engine specifications - Portfolio development — a body of work suitable for applying to studios or freelance game art work

## What the 3D Tools Bootcamp covers

A faster, more compressed introduction to 3D modeling and VFX compositing tools — enough to understand the software and produce basic work, without the full depth of character design, game-engine optimization, or a complete portfolio.

## Honest guidance on choosing between them

If you're not sure animation/game art is really your career path, start with the 2-month 3D Tools Bootcamp. It's a much smaller financial and time commitment, and many students use it to test genuine interest before committing ₹45,000+ and 7 months to the full Game Art & Design track.

## The realistic career picture

This field has fewer large local employers than web development or data roles — most game art and VFX jobs in India are concentrated in Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru, or remote freelance work for international studios. MITS does not have placement data specific to this track at the Ludhiana centre yet, being newly launched — that's worth stating honestly rather than implying guaranteed local placement in a field where the nearest major studio hubs are hundreds of kilometers away.

## The Model Town centre

MITS Academy's Ludhiana centre operates from Model Town, Ludhiana, Punjab 141002, running the same ISO 9001:2015 certified curriculum as the established Amritsar and Jalandhar centres. As the newest of the three, it has no independent Google review history yet — unlike Amritsar's 4.7★ (1,038 reviews) or Jalandhar's 5.0★ (184 reviews).

## FAQs

Do I need to know how to draw before starting Game Art & Design? Basic drawing ability helps but isn't mandatory — the course builds fundamental art skills from the ground up, though students with zero visual arts background should expect a steeper initial learning curve.

Can I do the 3D Tools Bootcamp and later upgrade to the full program? Yes — it's designed as a natural feeder course, and the skills carry over directly.

Is this course good for someone who wants to work in Ludhiana specifically? Be realistic — this is a field with very few local employers in Ludhiana or even Punjab broadly. Most graduates relocate or work remotely for studios elsewhere.

What's the batch schedule? Both courses start new batches every Saturday at the Model Town centre.
