Animation & VFX Course in Amritsar & Jalandhar 2026 — Curriculum, Demo Reel & Career Guide

MITS Faculty 9 min read

What a real 3D animation and VFX pipeline course actually covers — from character design and rigging to compositing in Nuke — and how to build the demo reel that gets you hired.

If you've searched for an "animation course near me" in Amritsar or Jalandhar, you've probably noticed most local options teach either basic 2D animation or a single tool in isolation — not the full pipeline that actual studios use to take a character from a sketch to a finished, rendered shot. This guide covers what a genuine animation and VFX education should include, and what MITS Academy's Animation & VFX course actually teaches.

Why "the pipeline" matters more than any single tool

A common mistake students make is thinking "I'll learn Maya" or "I'll learn After Effects" as if that alone makes them employable. In real studio work, no single tool matters as much as understanding the pipeline — how concept art becomes a 3D model, how a model gets rigged, how animation gets layered with FX, and how everything gets composited into a final shot.

MITS Academy's Animation & VFX course is structured around this exact pipeline, not around isolated software tutorials.

What the 7-month course covers, month by month

  • Month 1 — Visual Foundations: Cinematography basics, colour theory, character design fundamentals, and storyboarding — the visual thinking skills every animator needs before touching 3D software.
  • Month 2 — 2D Animation & Motion Graphics: Principles of 2D animation (timing, spacing, squash and stretch), Adobe Animate workflow, and motion graphics fundamentals in After Effects.
  • Months 3-4 — 3D Pipeline & Modelling: The full CG production pipeline, 3D modelling and asset creation in Maya, digital sculpting, UV mapping, and realistic texturing in Substance Painter.
  • Month 5 — Rigging & 3D Animation: Character rigging fundamentals and 3D character animation — walk cycles, weight, and believable motion.
  • Month 6 — FX Simulation & Compositing: An introduction to Houdini for FX simulation, camera tracking, rotoscoping basics, and compositing fundamentals in Nuke.
  • Month 7 — Demo Reel & Career Prep: Assembling a focused 60-90 second demo reel, portfolio presentation, and studio-application preparation with mock interviews.

The demo reel is the real credential

In animation and VFX hiring, a strong demo reel matters more than a resume or even a degree. Studios want to see your best 60-90 seconds of work, not a list of software you've touched. That's why Month 7 of this course exists entirely to help you build and polish that reel from your strongest projects across the course — a character design sheet, a modelled and textured 3D character, a rigged animated shot, and a VFX compositing shot.

Realistic career paths after this course

Graduates of a genuine animation/VFX pipeline course can pursue: 3D Animator, 3D Modeller, Rigging Artist, Compositor, Texturing Artist, or VFX Generalist roles — at animation studios, VFX houses, gaming companies producing cinematics, or ad agencies working with 3D content. Remote and freelance VFX work is increasingly common too, especially for artists with a strong, focused demo reel rather than a broad but shallow skill set.

Do you need a drawing background?

No. The course starts from visual fundamentals in Month 1, assuming no prior art training. What actually predicts success in animation is consistent daily practice — the skill is built through repetition of the pipeline, not raw natural talent.
