Committing to a 6-7 month animation, VFX, or game design programme is a real decision — in time, money, and interest. If you're not sure yet whether 3D work is genuinely for you, MITS Academy's 3D & VFX Tools Bootcamp is designed as the low-commitment, hands-on way to find out first.
What this bootcamp is — and isn't
This is a 2-month introduction, not a full production-depth course. It gives real, hands-on exposure to four industry-standard tools — Blender, Maya, Unreal Engine, and 2D animation fundamentals — so you can make an informed decision about which (if any) full-length programme fits your interests, before committing to 7 months.
Who this is actually for
- •Students genuinely unsure whether to commit to a full animation, VFX, or game design programme
- •Graphic design students who want basic 3D literacy on their resume without a full pivot
- •Anyone wanting an affordable, short first look at industry 3D tools before a bigger investment
The 8-week structure
- •Weeks 1-2 — Blender Fundamentals: Interface, modelling basics, UV mapping, materials and lighting — ending with a small textured 3D object project.
- •Weeks 3-4 — Maya Fundamentals: The CG production pipeline, basic asset creation, texturing, lighting, and an introduction to rigging concepts.
- •Weeks 5-6 — Unreal Engine Fundamentals: Real-time scene design with the level editor, placing and lighting elements, and basic visual scripting with Blueprints.
- •Weeks 7-8 — 2D Animation & Capstone: Core 2D animation principles, a small animation project, and a final capstone piece in your chosen tool — plus guidance on which full-length programme fits your goals.
No prior experience required
The bootcamp is built for complete beginners and starts each tool track from the interface and fundamentals — you don't need any prior 3D, design, or animation background to join.
What comes next
By the end, you'll have hands-on projects in Blender, Maya, and Unreal Engine, plus a clearer, informed sense of whether to pursue the full Animation & VFX course or the Game Art & Design course next — a decision made with actual tool experience behind it, not just guesswork.
