Animation & VFX vs Game Art & Design in Punjab — Which Course Should You Pick in 2026?
Animation & VFX and Game Art & Design look similar from the outside — both involve 3D tools, digital art, and Maya — but they build toward very different end products: a film/video demo reel versus real, playable game content.
We teach both at MITS Academy (Animation & VFX and Game Art & Design), both 7-month programmes sharing some core 3D tools but diverging heavily in pipeline and portfolio output. Here's the honest comparison.

Which should YOU pick?
Pick Animation & VFX if you:
- Want to work in film, television, or broadcast VFX and motion graphics
- Are drawn to compositing, FX simulation, and cinematic shot-building (Houdini, Nuke)
- Want a demo reel as your primary hiring asset
- Are targeting roles like VFX Generalist, Compositor, or 3D Animator
Pick Game Art & Design if you:
- Want to work in the game industry specifically
- Are interested in playable content, level design, and real-time game engines (Unreal Engine / Unity)
- Want your portfolio to include actual playable assets, not just rendered shots
- Are targeting roles like Game Artist, Character Artist, Environment Artist, or Level Designer
Not sure which fits? Start smaller:
- The 2-month 3D & VFX Tools Bootcamp (Blender, Maya, Unreal Engine, 2D animation) is a low-commitment way to try both directions before committing to either 7-month programme

Frequently asked questions
Animation VFX ya Game Art Design — konsa course better hai Punjab mein?
Depends on career goal. Agar aap film, TV, ya broadcast VFX mein jaana chahte hain, Animation & VFX lein — compositing aur FX simulation (Houdini, Nuke) is course mein hai. Agar aap game industry target kar rahe hain, Game Art & Design behtar hai — usmein Unreal Engine/Unity aur playable content banate hain.
Do both courses use the same 3D software?
Both use Autodesk Maya and Adobe Photoshop as shared core tools. Beyond that they diverge — Animation & VFX adds Substance 3D Painter, Houdini, and Nuke for the film/VFX pipeline, while Game Art & Design adds Figma, Unreal Engine/Unity fundamentals, and digital sculpting tools for the game pipeline.
Which course has better job prospects in Punjab?
Neither has a large local Punjab job market yet — both lead primarily to remote or Mohali/Chandigarh/Mumbai/Bengaluru studio roles, or freelance work. The stronger differentiator is portfolio quality: a tight demo reel for Animation & VFX roles, or playable game content for Game Art & Design roles.
Can I switch from one track to the other later?
Yes — the shared foundation (Maya, Photoshop, core 3D concepts) transfers between the two. Many students who complete one track later add the 2-month 3D & VFX Tools Bootcamp or specific modules from the other course to broaden their skill set.
What is the fee for these courses?
Animation & VFX: ₹48,000–₹68,000 for 7 months. Game Art & Design fees are not yet published — contact MITS Academy Amritsar (+91 90561 22116) or Jalandhar (+91 76580 33310) for current pricing.
